Hello my beauties! I can’t believe it, Christmas is this weekend! This year has been a hell of a year, am I right?! All of the tragedies and the celebrities who’ve passed…it’s just been on hit after another all year and I for one am looking forward to 2017 being better for everyone.
So I know I’ve shared very few fashion posts on this here blog, but I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone and do things that scare me, so in that vein, I’m sharing a fashion post today! I recently did a YouTube collab with a few other ladies from the YouTube Mommy MeetUp group on Facebook, it was a Holiday Look Book, 3 thrifted *or partly thrifted outfits. So, I’m sharing the outfits I pulled together with items I found at a few of my local Goodwill stores.
Outfit number one
Look One – Shirt and Jeans from Goodwill
Outfit number two
Holiday Look Book – Thrifted Edition, Look Two Top and Leggings from Goodwill
Outfit number three
Holiday Look Book – Thrifted Edition Look Three jeans and top from Goodwill alittledashofdiva.com
And just cuz I feel like sharing, here is the actual look book I did on YouTube 😉 I hope y’all like it!

Hello beauties! I wanted to talk a little about skincare today. The older I get, the more I’m paying attention to the skincare products I’m using and focusing less on the makeup products. If you don’t have great skin, all the expensive makeup in the world is not going to hide that fact, so I’d rather focus a little more on skincare first, make sure the canvas is the best it can be before we paint it up with the art that is makeup, you know what I’m sayin?
I had been seeing people all over the beauty community talk about the ELF Skincare line sold at Walmart or Target, wherever ELF products are sold, but I was reluctant to try it because I had a routine that was working well. I am not someone who gets a lot of breakouts, as long as I’m thoroughly cleansing and moisturizing my skin, generally the only time I get breakouts is when I’m pms’ing (ah the joys!). I generally stick to the ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ when it comes to skincare, but after hearing so many good things the ELF line, I decided to give it a try. The products are all pretty affordable, I think they are around $12 for each product in the line.
I picked up the daily cleanser, serum, and moisturizer. Personally, I use them in the morning and have a totally different set of products that I use for my nighttime skincare routine.
Overall, I really have liked this line for a couple of reasons:
They are super gentle – I don’t feel like my face is being scrubbed raw, the scent is pleasant and not overwhelming.
They are not greasy or heavy – When you apply the serum and moisturizer, they are not sticky or tacky or heavy.
My skin feels really clean and hydrated after using these products.
I love finding products that work well with my skin, that are really affordable, and are easily accessible. As I’m getting older I find that the less scented and harsh the products are the better my skin does with it. I’d love to hear what skincare products you use and why you love them, leave me a comment with your favorite makeup remover, that’s something I’m still on the hunt for!
What, can it really be? ANOTHER actual blog post?! Yes, yes it is!
I recently filmed a video for my YouTube channel that was inspired by the talented NikkieTutorials. She had filmed a video called The Power of MakeupThe Power of Makeup a while back and I had intended to do my version for a while and just never got around to it, until just recently.
So, here’s the deal, basically you just do you. Why do YOU wear makeup? How does makeup make you feel about yourself? If you are happy wearing a full face of makeup or not wearing a single stitch of makeup, that is what matters – YOUR happiness. Not how anyone else sees you. Not if people think you wear too much makeup or not enough makeup or your makeup is too bright or too dark. Makeup is an individual thing, some people feel their best with just a little bit of lip balm on and some of us feel our best wearing full on glam (yes, even during the day and we have nothing to do but the laundry or scrub toilets). I will never understand why people think they get to have an opinion on someone else’s personal preference for THEIR OWN FACE! Gah!
I decided to use both high end and drugstore items when I did my Power of Makeup look and as you can see, the difference in my face with no makeup on and then full on dark smokey eye and lashes…the important thing to note, I am comfortable with my face in either state. I have no issues leaving the house with no makeup on. On the other side of it, I also have no issues leaving the house in full on glam, even if I’m just running to the grocery store or to get gas. I’m comfortable with MYSELF, no matter what anyone’s opinion of me is…
There, now that I got that out in the open 😉
Here is the video I filmed on The Power of Makeup, I really do hope you take a few minutes to watch it and really listen to the message, love you for you, all of you, flaws and all. Be happy just being you, makeup or no makeup. Also, don’t try to bring down anyone else for any reason, but for the purpose of this post, especially not because they choose to wear more (or less) makeup than you do. You do you!
So a couple of weeks ago, I was invited to the launch of the NFL Capsule Collection at Lane Bryant. It was just before the Super Bowl so they had decor in the Seahawks and Patriots colors along with football shaped cookies, cupcakes with each teams colors and chocolate dipped pretzels.
They had a selection of these new shirts ranging from the NFL Logo to individual team shirts and a special Super Bowl t-shirt as well. If you made a purchase and were one of the first 50 people you got a swag back with one of the NFL logo shirts and a few other fun little items.
I decided to film myself getting ready for the event and then took a few pics while I was there to show y’all some of the highlights of the event.
I really loved being invited to this event and can’t wait for future fashion events to go to!
I’m sure there are a lot of opinions about kids having their own YouTube channels, or just putting kids on YouTube in general. I am of the opinion that if the child is mature enough to handle it, there is nothing wrong with it.
My 9 year old daughter is one of those kids. We created a YouTube channel for her to do videos of everything from DIY projects to beauty and hauls and everything else she might be interested in. She comes up with all the ideas for her videos and all I do is help to film and guide where she needs it. She is a natural in front of the camera, she’s so charismatic and just knows what to say – I’m in awe of her!
We recently were asked to be interviewed by a local magazine for an article on Kids with YouTube channels and that was really a fun experience!
I’m excited to see where she takes her channel and if she keeps up with it as she gets older with more varied interests. We would love you to follow along and subscribe to her channel, if you have any requests for things you might like to see on her channel leave us a comment letting us know and we will be happy to create some of those videos.
